Natural Resources

For years I have worked with my fellows Republicans to develop our natural resources: coal, oil, natural gas, ethanol, biodiesel, wind and alternative energies, doing so in a responsible manner. There are those who doubted we could achieve our goals, yet I was at the forefront of creating policies to advocate for our consumers and work with industry and local, state, and federal policy makers to provide common sense solutions.

Those opposed to developing our natural resources and expanding our state economy did their best to strangle the energy industry with heavy-handed taxes and oppressive regulation. As the leader of the Senate, I stood with my fellow Republicans to fight for reasonable and fair contributions from the industry, setting a balance between the energy needs of our state and nation and the insistence we keep our environment healthy.
